On
behalf of the 50th anniversary commission
I invite your participation in a host of
exciting and informative events commensurate
with our half century celebration.
It was in February 1956 that visionary
business leaders met to charter the junior
college. Over the past fifty years Roger
Williams has evolved –from the first
junior college in the state, to a college,
to a university with more than 5200 full
and part-time students, from down the street
and around the globe.
Everyone should share a sense of pride
and accomplishment for where we have been
and where we are headed.

The commission of faculty, staff, alums, students
and university leaders, past and present, have worked
tirelessly to create activities to celebrate the
past, acknowledge the present and foreshadow the
future. I invite you to peruse the schedule of events
listed on this site and participate in the many
lectures, performances and special events that will
take place over the upcoming year. This website
is a wonderful way to stay in tune with the celebration
and we hope you will visit it often as it will continue
to develop throughout the year.
As some of us know personally, turning 50 is
a milestone. It is a cause for both celebration
and reflection. I hope that you will have the
opportunity to add your own remembrances to this
important year and share, as I know you do, in
the pride of where we have been, and where we
are headed.
Sincerely,
Roy J. Nirschel, PhD
President
