About the '70s
With the end of the Nixon era and the Vietnam
war, the decline of rock and roll and growing
popularity of disco, the 70s was a decade
of transition. By 1978, the word had spread
about Roger Williams College and it had exhausted
space in the residence halls for the incoming
students.
This necessitated the rental of off-campus
accommodations in Bristol, Portsmouth, Middletown
and Newport. Planning began for the expansion
of the campus and residence halls in preparation
for the 80s.
